Decisions such as whether to increase or decrease investment in a project, or how to change the way a service is marketed. To give a recent example, one of our clients had just built a mobile email service for its customers, but it didn't have a reliable way of finding out how many customers were using it, or what they were using it for. We worked with them to understand what information they required, then built a web-based reporting system that showed them what was going on, updated on a daily basis. This allowed the client to see which parts of the system were being used, and which were not, and helped them decide how to promote the service more effectively in their marketing communications.
